The Truman doctrine was created to give money to Greece And Turkey to protect them from the "evils" of communism. It was created because England could no longer financially support these two countries.

The suspicion between the two world powers started as early as the Teheran conference, where the west allies were hesitant at opening a second front. In flaunting their atomic power, the Soviet Union was afraid of their own well being and therefore the arms race began. Russia also did not commit to its promises to open up free elections in the countries they took over.

The Russians were afraid that the western powers would once again attack. It had already faced two major blows in the 20th century and did not want to face any more. However, the Americans viewed themselves as aiding countries.
